California

In the mid 70's, I took my work to Los Angeles, California. I had enough money to stay in Venice Beach for about three months. I took my work to every gallery in the city and was rejected by all.
The day before I was to return to Indiana, I had one last appointment with the Space Gallery in Hollywood. The director of the gallery liked my work, but not enough to give me a show. While there the owner of the gallery came in and viewed my work. He liked it. He told me he would give me a show. I was elated.
By the time I got back to Venice Beach the owner of the Space Gallery had left a message on my answering machine telling me that he had sold four of my drawings and there was a check waiting for me at the gallery. I immediately caught a bus, went back to Hollywood and picked up my check.

Florida

In the early 80's, I moved to Florida. There I built a relationship with my first major patron. He provided financial support and introduced me to his friends and acquaintances. Additionally, he built a gallery for me to show my work on Sanibel Island.
It was in Florida that I received my first commission to do two prints for the Southwest Florida Eye and Heart Institute. These commissioned prints were printed at the prestigious Player Press in Chicago who is known for printing such artists at Robert Rauschenberg and Jim Dine.
Through these experiences and circles of people I had the opportunity of meeting Robert Rauschenberg, Daryl Pottorf, Roy Pearson and my next patron.
I then moved with my family to Toronto, Canada to a new life and a new adventure.

Canada

During the mid '80s, my family and I found ourselves as landed immigrants in Toronto, Canada. There were many successes including my first international show through the Swiss Bank of North America. I sold the complete body of my work in this show. My work was shown in The Marianne Freidland Gallery and continued to work with this gallery for over 10 years. I met many great people and two very special friends that I still work with, Philip Barker and Tom Roach.

Indiana

In the early '90s I moved my family back to Indiana where I currently reside. I managed to fulfill one of my dreams here which was to take my work to Russia. I continue to paint and use this region as my home base.
From my earliest memory I knew I was going to be an Artist. As a child I had no idea what that meant. I still struggle with what it means. I do know there is a drive within us and this drive is spiritually motivated. I believe we come into this world with an incredible sense of wonderment and innocence. To hold on to this childhood innocence is not easy. We work at this all of our lives. My paintings are not planned or rehearsed. My paintings are about celebration, passion, and surprise. One of the real strengths in my paintings is my identity. Beneath this whole art and life concept one thing must remain true, your own identity.
